Book Discoverability & Metadata Strategy

Help the right readers find your book.

A torn piece of paper with a list titled 'There's information and then there's knowing what to do with it,' featuring checked boxes next to 'Knowledge,' 'Experience,' 'Discernment,' 'Judgment,' 'Interpretation,' and 'Context,' with a small open book icon at the bottom right corner.

The problem isn't finding information.
It's knowing what matters.

Publishing platforms offer an enormous range of categories and keyword possibilities. Some look promising but attract the wrong readers. Others are less obvious yet offer a surprisingly good fit.

Choosing wisely means looking beyond search volumes and category rankings to understand reader expectations, comparable books, and the particular qualities that make your book appealing.

That's where experience and discernment make the difference.

How We’ll Work Together

1. Tell me about your book.

I'll ask you to share your manuscript (finished or unfinished), a synopsis or overview, and a little information about your book's genre, themes, and intended readers. Don't worry if you haven't figured everything out yet. That's part of what I'm here to help with!

2. I'll do the digging.

I'll research categories, keywords, comparable books, and reader expectations, looking for opportunities that make sense for your particular book. I'll analyze the findings and put together a detailed workbook (Google or Excel, as you prefer) with my recommendations.

3. We'll talk it through.

We'll meet for a one-hour Zoom session to review the findings, discuss the possibilities, and answer your questions. You'll come away understanding not just what I recommend, but why.

When We’re Done

You'll have a clear, research-backed strategy for positioning your book, along with the information and recommendations you need to put it into action.

The research workbook is yours to keep and refer to whenever you need it. You'll understand not just which categories and keywords I recommend, but why they're a good fit for your book.

And you'll be ready to take the next step with confidence.

If you'd like help implementing the recommendations on your publishing platforms or figuring out your next steps, I'm happy to discuss that as a separate project.
