The Art of Following One's Own Advice

I was recently talking to an author about ways to boost the sign-ups for his newsletter now that we’ve got him sending one out regularly, and he asked how my newsletter was doing.

We had a good laugh and I changed the subject.

When I started Ryder Author Resources, I already knew so many authors I figured I didn’t need to worry about marketing myself. Then, as I started getting more work, I found it hard to carve out time to promote RAR on top of all the stuff I was doing for other people.

And in all honesty I have the energy level of a tree sloth, so there’s that.

But no more!

I’m going to follow my own advice, insofar as it applies to somebody who’s not writing books, and that means keeping up with the blog and newsletter, among other things. And, because I know y’all have plenty of demands on your time already, in every newsletter I’ll include an incentive to stay subscribed. You don’t have to read every word, but skim it and you might get free stuff. (Note to authors: bribery is a legitimate promotional tool.)

If you have comments, suggestions, book-related humor, peace quotes, or good news to share, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can find me on social media, use this form, or send me an email, and I’d love to hear from you.

P.S. Have I ever mentioned you have a beautiful smile?
